Yugoslavia’s Timeline


1912-13 – Balkan Wars Began, because the Nationalism grew in the people.
1914 – The known murder of Franz Ferdinand
1915 – Yugoslavia is born thanks to the defeat of the Austro-Hungary Empire
During WWII – Communists fought the Germans.
1945 – Socialist Yugoslavia (Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia).
1980 – Death of Josip Tito (creator of Socialist Yugoslavia)
1990 – Nationalism awoke in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, and Macedonia, and Serbia redraw a map of the region to recover minorities, a case of Irredentism.
1991– Macedonia declared independence from Yugoslavia
1992 – Slobodan Milosevic in power in Serbia with the idea of “Ethnic Cleansing”
1995 – Serbian attacks on Srebrenica, drew attention to NATO, after this Yugoslavia was…
1998-1999 – Kosovo War, wanted separation from Yugoslavia (2008 Kosovo won independence)
2000-2001 – Milosevic wanted reelection, but was arrested by the Yugoslav government.
2002 – Trial In the UN’s Supreme Court started
2003 – The named of Yugoslavia was cesed to be used, and was named “Serbia and Montenegro”
2006 – Milosevic found dead in his cell, and the Republic of Montenegro was born.
